Yamaha Factory Racing Team Completes 2025 Wild Card in Valencia with Success
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team concluded their 2025 testing program with a successful wild card entry in the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community MotoGP Race. Augusto Fernández, the wildcard rider, demonstrated his prowess by completing the 27-lap race in 16th place, marking the third full-length race for the V4-Powered Prototype.

Fernández, starting from P23, navigated through the chaos of the opening lap, finishing the first lap in P20. He closely followed Somkiat Chantra and Álex Rins' battle for P18. Johann Zarco's long-lap penalty on lap 4 elevated Fernández to 19th, but his stay was brief. On lap 6, Zarco passed Fernández, and Nicolo Bulega followed suit on the next lap. However, Ai Ogura's crash shortly after pushed Fernández back to 20th. Fernández's determination paid off as he successfully overtook Chantra on lap 21, maintaining the position to the finish line. Despite the retirements of Maverick Viñales and Fabio Quartararo, and Aleix Espargaró's early return to the pits, Fernández's 16th-place finish was 36.854s behind the leader.
With these results, Fernández retains his 24th-place joint position in the championship standings with 8 points, while Yamaha solidifies its 5th position in the constructor championship with 247 points.
Fernández now hands over the V4-Powered Prototype to the four 2026 Yamaha MotoGP riders, who will test the V4 engine on Tuesday during the one-day IRTA test at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
