Isola sheds light on their approach: "We targeted tyre integrity based on the highest simulations initially. But defining compounds is tricky, as it depends on energy and load."

When it comes to tyre integrity, Pirelli prefers caution. "Teams struggle with reliable simulations, but we need those numbers. We can't start with a tyre suitable for early-season loads but not for the end. We design tyres aligned with end-of-season expectations."

Pirelli expects the teams' figures to converge in the next round of simulations, as seen with the introduction of 18-inch tyres. This allows them to make informed compound selections for all races.

To accommodate various scenarios, Pirelli aims for a wider range of compounds in 2026. "We started with the C3 as our baseline and designed a C3 with the same hardness. Then, we adjusted the others, creating larger gaps between compounds."

With these larger steps, Pirelli hopes to cover all bases. "If cars are slower than predicted at the start, our compound range might be on the harder side. But we can still select softer compounds for specific races."

The mystery of the F1 2026 pecking order remains, but Pirelli's simulations offer a glimpse. The real performance will unfold on the track, and the competitive order may surprise us all.
